Open a Word 2007 document. Double click at the very top of the page to open the header section. Once open, notice the new tabs on the tool bar called "HEADER & FOOTER TOOLS". Click on the "PAGE NUMBER" button, select "TOP OF PAGE" and the click on "PLAIN NUMBER 3" as shown below.
Below is what you should see the the upper right corner of the document. Place your cursor infront of the "1" and press the tab key on your key board.
This will send the page number into the margin as per the APA guidelines.
Place you cursor back in front of the "1" and type the tite of your essay. If the essay title is longer than 3 words, only include the first 3.
To set up the title page, place your cursor at the top of the page in the main body (not the header). Press the enter key 7 times and type the title of your essay, press enter and type your name, press enter one more time and enter the school's name.
**NOTE: THE ENTER KEY COUNTS WILL ONLY WORK IF YOU HAVE THE LINE SPACING SET TO DOUBLE SPACE.
