Hi, My name is Mia, I reside in Northern Michigan. This is my second year at Axia. I am majoring in accounting. I had spent the better part of my adult years working in the medical field, however, after the death of my second husband, I was no longer mentally capable of seeing someone else die so I got out of the field. I went to work at a factory working quality control and really enjoyed it. I was severely injured on the job and nearly lost my leg. I was no longer able to work a job standing up. Jobs in Michigan are very hard to come by as it is, let alone someone with a disability. That is how I came to be a student of Axia, I had to find something in a sit down job. I took accounting in high school and liked it.
I am 43 yrs old, I have two grown boys, my oldest son, he is 21, lives out in Wyoming and is a roughneck in the oil field, the other is almost 19 and is going to college for mechanics. I have a wonderful boyfriend of 6 yrs. He is an over the road truck driver so I have a lot of time on my hands for school. We have 4 dogs, one is being trained to be a trucker dog as it gets lonely out on the road. I go on the road occassionally with Mike.
We both enjoy the outdoors, living in Northern Michigan there isn't much else to enjoy. I grew up in the Detroit area and moved out of there when I was 19.
My grades have been perfect up until my current class, FIN/200. Thankfully I only have 3 1/2 wks left of this class. I am hoping I can find anyone on this site that can help me with ratios as my math skills are from the stone age. I have not had my math classes yet, I am sure I will need help with that as well. Being out of school for 25 yrs is not an advantage in learning this stuff. I was considering going on for my Bachelors after I get my Associates in December but after FIN/200, I am having second thoughts.
