CRT 205 - Final Due Sunday - HELP!

Postby Auracles on Dec 8th, 2008, 2:29 pm

Hello Forum,

I am in Week 9 of CRT/205. Thankfully, I have a 99.25% going into this last week. Athough I "intended" to begin the final earlier I was unable to due to my children, and myself getting struck with a nasty virus....

I have my article's ready to go, but I am having some trouble getting started. Is there anyone "out there" who would consider coaching me through this last week? I am not looking for anyone to do my work for me. However, I am feeling overwhelmed and my brain seems to be shutting down (hey, it happens!).

I need to develop a game plan. I was thinking...1 article per day for the next four days, and then revisions. Or should I tackle 2-3 points in the appendix for all four articles....arghhhh!!!!!!!!!!

So far today, after 4 hours, I have a marked up document and I am beginning to confuse myself....

help...please....

Thank you in advance,

Aura

HI Aura,

I would be happy to help you with you final. Let me know if you have any specific questions that I can help you with.

Just keep in mind, that there really are no "wrong" answers in CRT. When I got my final back, that was one of the comments my instructor left for me. Don't stress too much over it...like did! (I know that is easier said than done)

Hello Sean,

Thank you for the quick reply. I truly appreciate your reaching out.

Yes, specific questions: Do you have any recommendations concerning a game plan for tackling this "monster" in under a week? I can't decide if it's better to work each article individually or to break it up so i am looking for one or two aspects, in each article. Or just push through on one article until completion...As you can see I am an overthinker! Maybe tackling one topic; both articles would be best....

I drove myself crazy today just trying to identify vagueness and ambiguity in one article! So, I ditched that for the moment, and decided to use the 'Find" feature in word to identify premise and conclusion indicator words. Go figure...I'm a mess still getting over this bug...

Thank you for the comment from your instructor. My instructor emailed me the rubric for the final project. I have no excuse for messing this up! If I can just get my game on... I need a plan for tomorrow....and I'm stuck. You know how "in your head" one can get with no one to bounce things off of. I love distance learning, but times like these are rough. That's the reason I came here! To try and get unstuck & out of the box!

Thanks Again,

Aura

I have to agree with Sean, I too, am a chronic "over thinker". What I ended up doing on my CRT 205 final was about the last thing I would recommend to anyone. I did it entirely in the last 2 days before it was due. I had a few things pop up that messed up that week terribly, but it all worked out in the end.

For me, it worked best to take a step back and do it one step at a time. I tend to look at the whole "forest" too often, while missing the trees in it. I found the articles I wanted to use, then step by step completed the appendix for each, one at a time. I probably spent a total of 4 hours actually working on it and did very well in the end, also with a note from my instructor saying that I was overly analytical at times lol....

In hind site, I enjoyed the class but am glad its behind me.. best of luck, and remember.. you are just a week away from this class being over with :-)

Keep in mind that you may not be able to identify vagueness and ambiguity in an article. Some articles are very well written and support all marjor points without the use of fallacies or rehtorical devices. If this is the case, then state that and give reasons why you feel the article was "sound".

As far as a game plan...I would suggest working on the final when ever you get the chance. The more you get done earlier the less you will be stressed about the time constraints. If you need anything let us know! You will do fine...I am sure of that!

Hi Jesse & Sean,

Thank you for all the advice and tips! I am a lot calmer now, even though I am only half-way through.

I called my instructor and she was wonderful. She told me that I was over-thinking it, and that I needed to simplify my answers. She said, "this is an under-graduate class...not a graduate class!" She really helped me put the final in its proper perspective.

Sean, I appreciate your comments about some articles being sound. One of the ones I am working on is fantastic...not a fallacy in sight.

I developed a "game plan" at last. I'm filling in the skelton of all four articles, and then I will go back over them and tweak until tomorrow's deadline...

I'll letcha know how it goes when I get my grade! I'm praying for 250 points...

Back to the grind,
Aura
