I made an error when looking at my syllabus for this week. I had an assignment that was due yesterday that I thought was due today

So, I looked over my course work and started to complete the project, it sounded simple enough at first. The instructions stated "make a chart showing the differences between an "instruction set" and a Process Analysis Set", not too complicated right?? Well, like I typically do, I over analyzed things and made it more complicated that need be. I was thinking to myself, "why would I use a graphical representation to outline the differences for items that are primarily textual in nature? Why wouldn't I just write up a brief comparison of how they differ?

So, after much internal review I decided to step back, and get to the point of the assignment. make a chart showing the differences. I did this, all is well and I hope it meets the requirements of the assignment. I will use this as a lesson learned to not delay in turning assignments in on time, as the best I can hope for now on this assignment is 27 out of a possible 30 points because of the 10% penalty for turning it in late.

I am now finishing up week 6, that very chart assignment. The syllabus says to create a chart and post it as an attachment. It did not specify whether I should attach a jpg version of it, the visio chart itself, or a word document with the chart in it. What added to my confusion was that our instructor posted an example a few days after the week started, but it was a chart within an APA formatted document that basically explained the chart itself. I assume it is an example for Day 7's Writing Instructions assignment, but the instructor did not specify and named the post, "example."

I am going to attach the visio and a jpg version of the chart to CYA (Cover Your...!); hopefully that will be enough.

Having the idea to "CYA" is always a good thing. I know how different each instructor can be so I never assume anything or advise anyone on anything unless I am certain.. what you did is probably the best bet.

I've been dreading this one over the past couple of days. I understand the comparison portion of it but maybe like Jesse said above, I'm over analyzing it. I just can't wrap my head around how I am supposed to show these differences in a chart. When I think of a chart or graph, i think of bar graphs or pie charts and things like that, but when I think about it I can't think of how to show differences between two things in this way. Can anyone just give me a different direction to think about this assignment or other input that may help. Maybe an idea that can point me in another direction other than my current dead end?

Have you taken a look in your classroom's Materials forum? (Not the one with the syllabus & course materials, but the actual forum itself.) Sometimes the instructor posts more than just the standard materials there. Mine posted an example so we all had a clue to start with. LOL I still have the example I think, but I can't upload it here. Basically, it was a flow chart created in Visio. On one side was instructions, the other side was process analysis. Down the middle were the categories to compare between the two (purpose, title, audience, etc).

Thanks for not posting that on here, we are very cautious about posting any Axia materials on this site.. Granted its different as its not an assignment etc, but Axia has very particular policies on sharing or posting of any course materials.. I would you to be very cautious with any info that you should choose to share outside of the classroom.

I understand Jesse, I'm not looking for someone to give me there old homework but I am looking for a direction to go in. I sent a PM to Jayhann1 and thanks for the idea to double check the course materials. My instructor did give a little help back in week 3 but nothing for this week and I feel like bad about starting to ask questions now about it, thats my own fault.

I know you weren't, I just like to take the opportunity to mention this type of thing while I can also, there's nothing wrong with collaborating as long as you don't break Axias code of conduct etc..
